Library Services is embarking on an exciting phase of development during 2014/15 with construction of a new Library at the centre of the University's Ealing Campus. We are looking to recruit a full-time Senior Resources Assistant to join our new Resources & Technology team to help us lead a similar evolution in the provision of content to support teaching, learning and research across our sites, with user experience and value for money firmly at the centre.
The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of efficient and effective acquisitions and collection management processes for Library resources, focusing on print and e-books, print subscriptions, document delivery services and physical media. They will act as expert advisor to other Resources Assistants, dealing with day to day queries from the team and co-ordinating rosters to meet peaks and troughs of demand and projects. Crucially, they will assist the Head of Resources & Technology in developing a responsive, effective, efficient and enjoyable team environment, acting as a role-model for junior staff.
Applicants will have previous library or publishing experience in acquisitions or subscriptions, experience of using a library management system and the ability to demonstrate an understanding of HE library resources. Crucially, they will demonstrate their ability to line manage and motivate a team, ensuring individual team member performance meets or exceeds agreed standards and objectives.
They will be highly computer literate and have a propensity for accuracy, lateral thinking and an eye for detail, being able to work to deadlines. They will demonstrate a good customer service and responsive attitude along with an ability to work collaboratively across the team, Library and the University.
Library Services is implementing an annualised hours working framework to ensure maximum flexibility for individual staff and the University.
Please be advised that it is expected that appointment within a grade will normally be at the minimum point.
