Project Manager - Young Writers (Contract)

London

£28,500 per annum

Contract

Project Manager - Young Writers (Contract) London, SW8

Do you have experience of working with young people? Want to support the success of projects that are inspiring young people to utilise their creativity and tell their own stories? If so, you may be the Project Manager our client is looking for.

The Organisation

Our client is a national charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. They run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools. Their mission is to give young people the literacy skills they need to get a job and lead a successful life.

One person in six in the UK has poor literacy skills that impact on every area of their life. A child without good reading, writing and communication skills can’t succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market. Poverty doubles the likelihood of literacy failure by the age of five.

Now, our client is looking for a Project Manager to join them on a 12 month fixed-term contract and support the delivery of projects that support young people's understanding and enjoyment of writing.

The Benefits

  • Salary of £28,500 per annum
  • Pension (8% employer contribution)
  • The chance to lead projects that will have an impact on young people
  • Become a key member of a flexible, collaborative and growing team
  • 28 days’ holiday per annum plus Bank Holidays and a Christmas closure

Our client believes that the ability to communicate is a fundamental right and that society will only be fair when everyone has the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills they need to fulfil their potential.

By working with our client, you can help to transform lives through literacy.

In this fast-paced and exciting role, you’ll have the opportunity to oversee projects that will make a positive difference to young people and encourage their passion for the written word.

Your Role

As the Project Manager, you’ll support the success of the Young Writers programme, which finds creative ways to engage disadvantaged young people in writing.

Specifically, you will:

  • Oversee project logistics, safeguarding, risk management, QA and event management
  • Identify and recruit schools to take part in projects
  • Deliver high-quality training sessions and workshops
  • Present the work of the programme to a range of audiences, including teachers and businesses
  • Help to manage and track project spend
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the programme, including designing and delivering content
