Timeplan Education are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a mixed needs special secondary school located in the London Borough of Southwark. The school caters to pupils aged 1119 yearsold with needs including:
Complex medical needs, Downs Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Speech, Language and Communication difficulties, ADHD and physical disabilities. Every pupil at this school has a statement of Special Educational Needs and all have severe or moderate learning disabilities. The school work cohesively with parents/guardians, the local authority and external agencies such as the School Nursing Service as well as with the Early Help Team. In addition to their expert teaching staff, the school have two speech and language therapists, a Family Worker, Occupational Therapist, and a Work Experience Coordinator. The school are massively invested in developing their pupils all round confidence in academic and social elements, giving them optimal opportunities to flourish in their adult life.
Person Specification Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA/LSA) Southwark, London
Ideally candidates will hold a fully enhanced DBS, child and adult, qualification within Childcare and will have at least 6 months experience of working with young children or adults with special educational needs and disabilities. Should you not have a DBS, we can apply for one when you come in to register
You must be flexible in your approach to supporting children both in small groups and on a onetoone basis
You must have previous experience working with children or adults with special needs and disabilities including but not limited to
Complex medical needs, Downs Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Speech, Language and Communication difficulties, ADHD and physical disabilities,
Complex Needs, and Emotional Behaviour Disorders.
You must have a calm and positive attitude.
About the Role Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA/LSA) Southwark, London
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) you will be supporting pupils from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, promoting a love of learning. These roles are daily supply and long term with competitive rates of pay, starting from £65, reflecting previous experience working with children and workload.
You will be required to:
Take direction from the class teacher and support children in either small groups or on a onetoone basis
Work within the curriculum, as required offer support students with knowledge of life skills.
Offer learning support to the children within your care and ensure that they are enjoying their learning experience.
This position is paying a daily rate of around £70 £85 and you will be paid on a weekly basis.
