Clerk of Works

A great opportunity for a Clerk of Works to join a successful construction and property consultancy in Orpington, Kent with a wide variety of New Build Design and Build projects and regeneration projects throughout the South East.

The Company

The Clerk of Works will join an established, mediumsized, multidisciplinary construction consultancy specialising in cost management, project management, project monitoring, specialist cost consultancy and CDM.

Working across all major sectors, for public and private sector clients, the company has a reputation as a great employer, with very low staff turnover. The company really value their staff and are keen to help them progress through training, providing assistance (both practical and financial) to all.

The Role

The Clerk of Works will undertake regular inspections of construction work to monitor progress and quality.

This will include:

Verifying compliance with contractual drawings, specifications, warranty standards and employers requirements
Identifying discrepancies
Preparing written reports with supporting photographs
Liaising with Main Contractors site teams to review and advise on quality management

The Person

The successful Clerk of Works will have:

Experience in a similar role (this may include an experienced Site Manager, Building Control Surveyor, Technical Inspector for NHBC/BLP/Premier)
Sound technical knowledge
The ability to work on their own and as part of a group
The ability to liaise closely with Building Contractors, reading drawings, issuing site inspection reports and research technical data
Proficiency in MS office (Word, Outlook, and preferably Excel)

It will be beneficial if the Clerk of Works is qualified (MICWCI, MCIOB).
