About the job
A lovely primary school in a town on the edge of Barnet borough and Hertfordshire is seeking a Year 5 teacher to join their team for the Summer term, (after Easter 2019). The Headteacher would like the teacher to continue with the class into Year 6 and to work with them through their SATS.
The school is two form entry, based in an area which borders London, so has the benefit of cheaper accommodation if you choose to live close by, whilst still only being 25 minutes from central London on the reliable and frequent rail service. It is also close enough to drive from London and the Head will consider additional increments to cover travel costs.
They are led by a inspiring Headteacher who has taken the school from requires improvement to good in all areas and they are hoping to receive some outstanding grades when they are next inspected by Ofsted. The Head is passionate about improving the school further still and has a brilliant team working with her to achieve this. There is a very busy, creative feel to the school.
The school has a large playing field and lovely playground and is wellresourced throughout.
The vacancy is for a Year 5 teacher to start from Easter 2019, in Year 5 for the Summer term and to then continue with the class into Year 6 for the whole academic year. The class are described as delightful and respond well to enthusiastic, positive teachers who will deliver exciting lessons, whenever possible. They are a very creative class. There are three children in the class with various levels of Autism and these pupils take time to deal with change, hence the reason for the Easter start, to ensure that they are settled and engaged in time for September in Year 6. They are well supported by full time teaching assistants.
You will be planning and preparing lessons and activities each week with the parallel class teacher, which will allow you to share and develop ideas.
You will be a qualified teacher who is looking to join a great team and have a firm commitment to helping children to achieve their full potential.
The school require a teacher who can definitely commit until July 2020, in order to see the children through Year 6 SATS, preferably with recent Y6 experience, although this is not essential.
You will be creative, engaging and with a passion for teaching, with a sometimes firm, but fair approach, although behaviour in the class is good. Good teamwork and organisational skills are a must.
If you meet all of the above criteria and are looking to join a great team, please contact me as soon as possible.
If this role is not quite right you at the moment, but you know of a suitably qualified and experienced friend/colleague, please let us know as we offer a £250 referral fee for candidates who successfully work for us. Please call for more information.
