A unique opportunity for a recently qualified Microbial Biotechnologist to work on a joint project under the Knowledge Transfer Partnership programme, between New Generation Biogas (NBG) and Plymouth University. The key objective of this role is to develop new knowledge and expertise in microbial management to optimise the performance of the Anaerobic Digestion system, plus develop the next generation products.
The Company:
NGB began life in 2009, in the Agricultural sector, as a project to develop a high-output, modular AD (Anaerobic Digestion) plant by combining factory automation technology with advances in microbial monitoring and management techniques. NGB's in-house developed processes and systems have been brought together in a manufacturing facility that is now rolling out commercially available, production run AD systems, primarily aimed at small-to medium-sized farms under the brand name Archemax trademark . The Candidate:
You will hold a post graduate qualification such as a PhD or Research Masters in Microbiology ideally relating to Archaea or other fastidious anaerobe. Subjects studied should include microbial physiology, ecology, and biochemistry. Your first degree will be a 2:1 Hons or above in a Biological Science area such as Microbiology, Biochemistry or similar.
You will have extensive bench and field experience and be keen to operate practical tests and trials. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts to a wide range of user groups of all ages. You should be personable, enthusiastic and able to engage others in development work. You will also have excellent initiative, attention to detail, be tenacious and have the ability to problem solve creatively. Being able to work as part of a small team and having the willingness to take the project lead will also be expected.

This is a full-time post working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term contract for 30 months.
