We have an opportunity for a buyer to join our busy purchasing team at our Advanced Composite facility in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire. The requirement is for a purchasing professional is support the business for a period of 12 months while a business transformation project is implemented.
The main aspect of the role is to procure material and services in accordance with the business requirements and customer specification at the best price practice. The role also involves supplier management, identification and management of supplier/goods and services, investigating and identifying cost reduction opportunities through negotiation, resourcing and benchmarking as requested/directed by the Purchasing Manager and provide accurate delivery information to Production and any other departments as required/directed in accordance with the business needs.
The main duties associated with the role are:-
Procurement of material/goods in line with the demands of the business and in accordance with MRP. Min/Max and MOF’s -Rescheduling / Order Progressing to endeavour to meet the demands of production and providing accurate up to date information. -Attend production meetings as required, ensuring a proactive approach is undertaken in relation to shortages. -Internal communication with Engineering, Quality, IT, Production, Stores and Commercial -Provide accurate information in a timely manner. -Ongoing correspondence with suppliers required/directed -Ordering materials via MRP taking into account batch quantities and lead-times. -Allocating newly created items to preferred supplier on ERP system. -Involvement in continuous improvement practices throughout the procurement department This is an opportunity for the right candidate to gain skills and to be part of the business during an exiting and challenging time.
Applicants should have a good standard of education, grade C or above at GCSE (or equivalent) and have or be working towards CIPS qualifications -Experience in working in a similar purchasing role (ideally 2 to 5 years) -Positive and proactive attitude to work -Good communication skills, written and verbal -Ability to make decisions, either alone or as part of team -Good negotiation skills -Aptitude for learning and development
Due to the nature of our business, all employment is subject to satisfactory references being obtained, attainment of either a SC (Security Check), Disclosure Scotland Criminal Record Check or Foreign Police Check (whichever is applicable depending on duration of UK residency) and, as applicable, a medical assessment. Access to US technical data by employees requires prior Trade Control function approval. Clearance must be carried out against all applicable US export control authorisations.
