Tech savvy, intellectual food retailer is looking for a Graphic Design & Branding team. You will support the department head in meeting his objectives. Provide an environment where creativity can thrive alongside the everchanging, fastpaced and dynamic needs of the business. Independently lead and produce commercial, powerful, creative solutions, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
You are expected to balance team leadership with handson work in this role.
Be a key point of creative inspiration and technical expertise for your area, including running skills tutorials. Set a consistently positive example for the team in all your work and behaviours. Oversee work across all required channels from conception to completion, providing guidance where necessary.
Team management. Manage team members in line with the brand policy and procedures. Manage your team in line with the creative direction and philosophy defined by the department head. Work with other team leads/managers to provide a strong, consistent management tier.
Line management. Ensure the support, development and wellbeing of the team carrying out critical business activities such as reviews, mentoring and training in a proactive, timely manner. Set a consistently positive example for the team in all your work and behaviours, and nurture and maintain a positive, workorientated culture and morale in your team.
Quality of output. Sign off all work produced by your team. Ensure that work produced of a high standard in both form and function; meets the commercial owners brief; is delivered on time; is in line with the creative direction and philosophy defined by the department head, and answers any stated needs of the user and the business (including timings and cost considerations) in a way that is in their best interests. Ensure the consistent application of the suppliers brand and, where relevant, the brand, in all creative output.
Productivity. Be responsible for the timely delivery of creative by your team. Plan work, and set and review priorities as necessary, for you and your team to deliver work on time. Constantly strive for new ways to increase productivity, and reduce friction and inefficiency in the process. Keep colleagues informed about the progress of work being done by you and your team.
Communication. Ensure that project briefs have the information required at the start of a project, and that the work produced meets the brief. Be the main point of contact for the business for your area, empowering your team to deal directly where appropriate. Work with business owners and team leads to ensure positive interactions with other teams at all times.
User experience. Understand the customer; employ logical and analytical thinking; demonstrate the importance of consistent customer experience and view each job or channel as part of an overall whole.
Presentation skills. Use live designs and storyboards to present your work to colleagues and/or business partners.
Brand guardianship. Ensure that all work adheres to brand guidelines.
Meet business objectives. Understand what business owners are asking for, and translate that into commercial, powerful, creative solutions. Act in the best interests of the brand and its customers at all times.
Planning and reporting. Maintain and share the resource planner for your team. Monitor your teams progress and ensure that your and their time is reported accurately to help with forecasting future capacity and accurately allocating resource time on future projects. Change management. Embed a culture of change within your team. Support the department head in creating a flexible, scalable team that is able to meet the everchanging, fastpaced and dynamic needs of the business. Create incremental value by identifying, recommending and leading solutions to business/user problems. Design duties include:
Build and update brand guidelines to exacting standards.
Produce creative, original concepts with a clear design rationale.
Great written and verbal communication skills and ability to present to senior stakeholders.
Ability to take the lead, and run projects, and to be able to see more than just the design perspective.
Work collaboratively to develop and execute ideas across a variety of channels and formats. You must be familiar with designing for digital and social channels.
Work as a brand guardian and advisor to internal and external teams.
