The Company has a 40-year history in the design and manufacture of lifting and mechanical handling equipment and is known internationally. Their products tend to be unique in the marketplace due to the deliberate strategy of finding innovative designs to solve customer problems.
As part of the Company's expansion, an opportunity has arisen within their Lifting Equipment division specialising in the design and manufacture of vehicle mounted cranes and lifting platforms.
Role and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work within a specialist team and support a wide variety of unique and high-quality projects for customers at home and abroad. The role will not be limited to one product, so the candidate must be prepared to be flexible within the team.
The successful candidate will be well supported within the Design Team but will be expected to meet deadlines from the outset and their performance will be monitored. The company has high expectations of all employees and they are expected to continue with their personal development.
They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to be integrated within their team and to perform the following duties:
Produce innovative design solutions to meet customer requirements
Develop designs using Autodesk Inventor and produce drawings suitable for manufacture, including machining and fabrication drawings
Have due regard to legislation, British Standards and nuclear requirements
Liaise with the client on designs
Carry out stress analysis including hand calculations
Fully cost designs and produce a bill of materials
Formal Mechanical Engineering qualification to degree level with good working knowledge of 3D CAD packages – ideally Autodesk Inventor 2015 or later
Relevant industrial experience preferable and an interest and knowledge of machinery and fabrication design, ideally experience with lifting equipment and hydraulic circuits
A basic understanding of the design of electrical control circuits would be an advantage
Fully proficient in Microsoft Office.
A full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK (unless reasonable adjustments can be made under the Equality Act 2010).
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: Negotiable depending upon experience.
Contract: Permanent 40hrs/week Mon – Fri, plus overtime (as required).
