About the job
Are you based in the UK and want to use your spare time to help farmed animals? Join our UK National Volunteer Program!
Who are we?
The Humane League UK relentlessly works to end the abuse of animals raised for food through institutional and individual change.
Institutionally, we hold corporations accountableinfluencing the world's biggest companies to create and implement animal welfare policies that abolish the worst forms of abuse and reduce the suffering of billions of animals, while incorporating plant-based options. We also work to enact laws that ban the confinement and inhumane treatment of animals.
Individually, we open eyes to the horrifying ways in which animals are treated on factory farms, empowering people to take action for animals through activism and by leaving animals off our plates.
What can you do as a volunteer?
We need volunteers to help us with our campaigns, fundraising and growing our supporter base at events around the UK.
Examples of volunteer campaigning activities:
Leafletingwe provide you with custom leaflets to give out outside a campaign target location such as McDonalds; you will take pictures of this leafleting and share them with the campaign target company executives and also with us.
Contacting companies in support of our corporate reform campaigns.
Organising or attending an action party in your local area. (An action party is when a group of activists come together in person to complete THL UK campaign actions.)
Writing Letters to Editors about our campaigns to your local media sources.
Writing blog posts about our current campaigns.
Helping us with campaign research.
Writing physical letters to company executives about our campaigns.
Attending or organising a campaign protest in your local area.
Restaurant outreach, asking local restaurants to add vegan options to their menu and asking companies who do to display our vegan options inside sticker on their window.
If you have specific skills such as photography, videography, animation, legal knowledge etc. we would love for you to use your specific skills as a volunteer. Let us know!
Representing THL UK in your area and growing our network of support

Admin and research:
Helping us with general behind the scenes research about locations.
Helping a THL UK team member with a specific project.
Organising a fundraising event for THL UK.
Organising for our THL UK collection tins to be displayed in your local veggie restaurants and arrange for the donations to be sent to us regularly.
Each of these tasks are tremendously important to advancing our work in helping as many animals as possible. The best thing is, it is totally flexible and you can get involved as much or as little as you are able to.
Our campaigns are strengthened by people power, and we wouldnt be able to achieve big changes for animals without volunteers like you on the ground using your spare time to help us. The really great thing about our volunteer programme is that it is totally flexible, so you can give as much or as little time you have and choose what you would like to get involved in based on the skills you already have, or the skills that you would like to develop.
You do not have to be based anywhere in particular to get involved in our volunteer programme. We are a remote organisationand our volunteers are remote too! There are some volunteer-organised THL UK events in certain UK towns organised by our Regional Reps. If there are not already physical events happening in your city, why not reach out to us and apply to become a Regional Rep? If you have any other ideas of how you would like to help us with our current campaigns, let us know!
