Responsibilities and requirements:
To manage a caseload of Safeguarding Enquiry Reports which need to be produced and sent to the Family Court in accordance with legally prescribed timeframes. In doing this the Safeguarding Reporting Officer will need:
o To undertake telephone based safeguarding interviews (around any risks posed to children) with adult service users through a defined structure and procedure, and making decisions around the sequence and type of questions to pose (from a series of prompts) depending on the circumstances in the case.
o To analyse and summarise safeguarding information from the telephone interview with service users together with information from the local authority, police and the court application.
o To complete a Safeguarding Enquiry report for the Family Court using a template which outlines the safeguarding enquiries undertaken and provides a summarised version of all information received
o To identify those cases where information concerning relevant safeguarding issues from the court application and external agencies require the case to be allocated to a Family Court Advisor or Family Court Social Worker.
The post holder will receive monthly supervision. The role is to assist social workers and the post holder will therefore not be case responsible themselves
