Clinical Skills Technician

As part of a School expansion, applications are invited for the post of part-time Technician in the Clinical Skills Resource Centre at the University of Plymouth Peninsula Medical School (PMS).
PMS is widely regarded as the strongest of the new medical schools in the UK. The Resource centre supports undergraduate Medical, Dentistry, Bio-medical Sciences, Physician Associate and Radiography programmes.
You will work under the supervision of the Senior Technician to help support the range of Clinical Skills Programmes on offer. You should have prior experience of working with a broad range of customers/stakeholders. You will require effective interpersonal skills and be willing to communicate with students, academic staff and clinical staff in the performance of your day-to-day duties.
You will work as part of a small technical team, alongside academic and clinical staff in ensuring the provision of a high-quality learning environment for students. In addition to teaching facilities, the CSRC also offers practice facilities to its students.
The role will include preparation and maintenance of healthcare related teaching resources, setting up teaching rooms and liaising with department staff on a day-to-day basis. A large proportion of teaching sessions utilise simulation manikins and you will have co-responsibility for maintaining some of these resources.
This is a part-time term-time position working 20 hours per week for 42 weeks per year on a permanent basis. The hours will be spread across 5 days per week (4 hours per day) preferably in the late afternoon and early evening, although some flexibility may be negotiable with the Senior Technician.
The post will be based at the Clinical Skills Resource Centre, John Bull Building, Plymouth Science Park, Derriford.
