Disability Services Practitioner

Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Edinburgh to recruit for a Disability Services Practitioner in the Public Sector on a temporary basis for 6 Months with potential extension.

Due to current circumstances this role will be based remotely.
Day rate: £350 - £450 (Inside IR35)

The main duties would be:

  • Work collaboratively within the Health and Social Care Professional Team.
  • Contribute to development of the end to end services for clients with disabilities, ensuring the service is as positive an experience as possible for the client
  • Contribute to the development of the new practitioner role to ensure this provides a fulfilling, supported, valued and respected position with opportunity to grow and develop.
  • Provide input to the operational set-up of the services
  • Provide clinical advice on elements of the services which involve practitioner interaction
  • Provide clinical advice and guidance on how to ensure the service is improved based on knowledge of previous challenges when setting up a service
  • Work closely with the internal stakeholders ensuring work is progressed collaboratively and compliments the overall service for clients
  • Work closely with user researchers and external stakeholders ensuring the engagement contributes to the development of work within the Health and Social Care Professional Team


  • Current registration with the appropriate health professional body
  • Experience within an environment providing services to people with disabilities
  • A comprehensive understanding of the current DWP services provided for adults
  • Ability to work collaboratively alongside multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledge of working in an agile environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively and with confidence in a senior policy and strategic environment
  • Articulate and structured in presenting information
  • A demonstrable commitment to working in a way compatible with the social model of disability and sound technical knowledge of medical and disability related terminology
  • The ability to gain an understanding quickly of the workings of the Scottish Government and the wider political context
  • A personal commitment to our core ethos of treating all people with dignity and respect, the provision of social security as a human right and our duty to maximise benefit take-up


  • Experience of working in services provided by the DWP for people with disabilities
  • Experience working in a service design environment
  • Experience in working in an agile environment
  • Knowledge about social security benefits and/or public policy.
  • Understanding of service development and change management

Candidates are required to have a Basic Disclosure Scotland Certificate
