Crime Scene & Specialist Cleaning Operative

We are recruiting for a Crime Scene & Specialist Cleaning Operative for our Specialist Cleaning department. The correct candidate will be flexible, reliable, and honest with good communication skills. The Crime Scene & Specialist operative will also be trained in biohazard cleaning and demonstrate competency in cleaning of hazardous environments as well as crime scenes.

The correct candidate will be responsible for variety of specialist cleaning tasks which will include floor maintenance, professional window cleaning, washroom & medical environment deep cleaning, and other associated cleaning tasks. They must work well on their own initiative and follow instruction well. They must enjoy team working as well as be confident to engage in solo work tasks.

The department operates on a 24/7 basis and the desired candidate would need to be flexible in their working patterns, as this will include nights and evening and weekends. Due to the nature of this role the correct candidate will need to available and demonstrate flexibility for emergency calls outs at night and at the weekend on a rota basis.

The correct candidate must have a valid drivers license.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • On call rota to respond to emergency calls outs to biohazard and crime scene clean ups.
  • Demonstrate safe handling of materials and waste which are considered medical or biohazardous waste
  • Responsible for operating various types of floor care machinery including floor buffers and scrubbers
  • Stripping, scrubbing, buffing, refinishing or sealing of different types of hard surfaced floors using appropriate equipment and chemicals
  • Deep cleaning and maintenance of carpets by approved methods
  • Window cleaning including operating reach and wash window cleaning equipment as well as traditional mop and blade systems.
  • Responsible for operating high level extraction equipment for dusting
  • Deep cleaning of washroom facilities including coring, descaling, and sterilising of surfaces.
  • Responsible for securing working area, using appropriate safety barricades, and removing when duties are completed and area is safe for public use
  • Keeps cleaning equipment operational by following manufacturer's operating and care guidelines; completing operator repairs and parts replacement
  • Maintains safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Ensure that all works are carried out and completed to the highest standards
  • Ensure that all works are carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the companies H&S policies


  • Experience in hazardous & crime scene cleaning is preferable but not essential
  • Previous floor care/carpet cleaning experience is essential
  • Previous professional window cleaning/ reach and wash experience
  • Experience of Washroom Deep Cleaning
  • Experience of Kitchen Deep Cleaning
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work under own initiative or as part of a team
  • Punctual, professional and driven
  • IPAF is desirable but not essential
  • Basic plumbing skills are desirable
