First Natural Brands is one of the UK’s leading experts in essential oil sourcing and blending. Following a period of strong growth in sales and customers over the past few years, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Compliance at our HQ in Sayers Common, West Sussex.
First Natural Brands owns the multi-award-winning aromatherapy brand, Tisserand Aromatherapy, which was originally founded in 1974 by aromatherapy pioneer Robert Tisserand. Today our dedicated team of experts continue to share this knowledge and are the pioneers of modern aromatherapy, providing wellness solutions using 100% natural aromatherapy. Whether single essential oils in a bottle or part of our creatively blended ranges, they are all carefully selected and are sourced from all over the globe. Consumers of Tisserand Aromatherapy are of all ages and gender, who not only care for their natural wellbeing, but also that of the planet.
Tisserand Aromatherapy products are available online through our website, although, most important is our great relationships with retailers that help provide the brand with an omni-channel route to market. Retailed internationally in over 20 markets, our customers include Boots, Holland & Barrett, Amazon, Ocado, Waitrose, Lloyds Pharmacy, Sainsbury’s, Planet Organic, Wholefoods and leading independent health stores, pharmacies and online retailers. First Natural Brands also category manage aromatherapy products for major retailers.
Reporting to the Product Development Manager and working with other supporting departments, the candidate should work to ensure full compliance with the relevant Global Regulations for both Cosmetic and Non-Cosmetic products within the portfolio of products for both in-house and Private Label brands. They should have the ability to prioritise different workloads and remain highly organised to ensure that the company remains compliant with government and external requirements as well as implementing processes that will help to streamline the route to market for new products from a Regulatory perspective.
* Strong understanding and experience of the following:
* Cosmetic Regulation 1223/2009, PIF compilation, CPNP/SCPN.
* CLP Requirements for Hazardous Materials.
* Claims support and artwork guidance on finished products.
* Experience in using Sage and Coptis programs or very similar.
* Ability to interpret test results associated with cosmetic products.
Knowledge of other Global Regulations outside of the EU and UK.

Generating and providing information or documentation in accordance with various Global Regulations as well as for Sales and Customer Support requirements for both finished products and ingredients where necessary, such SDS's, compliance certificates. Managing ad hoc data requests for distributors, clients, colleagues.
Ensuring full traceability and quality of Regulatory documentation is maintained and available in relation to all products.
Creating and maintaining Product Information Files including the obtaining of Cosmetic Product Safety Reports for all existing and new Cosmetic products and ensuring relevant documentation and compliance is available for non-Cosmetic Products.
The input, registering and updating of products onto the CPNP (Cosmetic Product Notification Portal) and the SCPN (Submit Cosmetic Product Notification).
Keeping fully up to date with changes in Regulations and guidelines by attending seminars, liaising with Regulatory Authorities and Ingredient Suppliers and obtaining updates, to gain knowledge of how current products are/will be affected by changes and ensuring that this is communicated to the business in a timely manner.
Ensuring company ethics are maintained and defendable whilst fully reviewing supplier documentation in accordance with this.
Liaising closely with the Product Development, Brand and Supply Chain Managers to ensure documentation for new product development and changes to existing products is captured.
Supporting the UK and International Sales/Customer Support Teams with regards to queries and complaints from customers, distributors.
Providing guidance on claims/wording on pack and panel testing to assist in supporting this.
Reviewing artwork from a Regulatory perspective.
Managing the priorities of Regulatory work that we carry out both internally and with third parties, as well as managing the compliance administrator.
Managing Coptis record maintenance, creating and providing formula and INCI reports by working with administrative support and Product Development. Ensuring the software is fully up to date and in alignment with Sage Software through close liaison with Supply Chain.
Working with Supply Chain and Product Development Managers to implement and control the Management of Change to all products, ensuring this is correctly reflected on all software and that PIFs are maintained and updated accordingly.
Strong involvement in rolling out of projects such as the implementation of CLP to non-cosmetics, identifying where hazard warnings may be triggered on artwork and working with the Product Manager to minimise this if and where possible to maintain the Brand image.
Remaining compliant with individual Retailer requirements in addition to the Regulations.
Managing queries, communications and requirements of the Vegan Society with regards to product submissions and with Retailers in relation to Registration Tools.
Managing Regulatory documentation requirements of individual clients such as QA/CFI/Vegan/Natural/FSC/Sustainability/Claims support forms, ingredient and finished product information, providing PIFs whilst ensuring our confidentiality and their individual policies are met
