We are currently looking for a dependable and friendly individual to join our busy residential service in Totnes that helps individuals with physical and learning disabilities live the life they choose.
United Response is a leading disability charity that champions the right of individuals with learning disabilities. Through the provision of excellent person-centred support we can help ensure that the people we support don’t face unnecessary barriers to being active members of the community.
What does a Team Leader do?
As a Team Leader your role is to ensure that you assist the Service Manager with the day to day running of the service whilst also providing key support to Support Workers on shift. As a Team Leader you will:
Managing a team of Support Workers
Provide leadership and motivation
Managing Rotas
Supervise and mentor team members
Facilitate the day to day running of services
Monitor the quality of support given
Liaise with other agencies
Think creatively about the type of support we can offer
Ensure that relevant documentation in updated and maintained
The role of Team Leader is incredibly important for the service, as you will be that vital link between the house and management team. The role is a 50/50 split between admin and support worker in the house.
You
To be a successful Team Leader you should be an experienced social care professional who is comfortable in their abilities, allowing you to mentor and train team members. You should combine a willingness to think outside the box with the reliability and intuition expected of a Team Leader. All candidates should be confident in their ability to conduct 1-2-1s and performance reviews and have some knowledge of how to get the best out of staff. Previous experience of managing would be beneficial, but all applicants should be IT literate and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Given the rural nature of this service, you should hold a full drivers licence and have access to your own vehicle.

Please note that this role will involve elements of weekend and evening work as well as the need to form part of the on-call rota and the successful applicant will be subject to a full DBS check.
To help keep the people we support and our staff safe and continue the fight against COVID-19 all our frontline staff are tested regularly and have access to supplies of PPE andrelevant training. In addition to this and in line with recent Government announcements that all new employees in Registered Care Homes will be required to receive both doses of the COVID-19 vaccination. This role is within one of our Registered Care Homes and if you are successful in your application you will be required to have both doses of the COVID-19 vaccination.
