We are recruiting for a customer-focused, self-motivated and quality-minded Project Manager to join our Professional Services team.

You’ll lead and manage projects from beginning to end (including initiation, scoping, planning, implementation, delivery and closure with lessons learned) directly into our customer, or through a systems integrator. You’ll take full control of project delivery by managing customer expectations, proactively anticipating issues, and managing changes as required.

Operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, you will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders, often at a senior level, you will maintain regular communication and build relationships. You’ll define the project success criteria and then set and continually lead project expectations to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage projects from beginning to end, including project initiation, project scoping and planning, implementation, delivery and project closure with lessons learned

  • Maintain regular communication, and build relationships, with the most senior levels on the customer side, typically programme/operations Director level

  • Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and assumptions and identify solutions

  • Ensure project profitability, quality of deliverables and client satisfaction is achieved

  • Accurately forecast revenue, profitability, margins and utilisation

  • Actively participate in pre-sales and produce project contractual documents such as Statements of Work (SOW), project scoping and estimation, proposal creation and contract preparations

  • Establish full scale project plans for all phases which includes all activities and costs to ensure successful delivery (including resourcing)

  • Ensure budget proposals are created and in line with budgetary requirements

  • Maintain regular and effective communication with all customers and relevant stakeholders both internally and externally

    party suppliers into the project, coordinating their involvement and priming their delivery into the customer

  • Continually manage project dependencies and critical path

  • Plan, schedule and track project timelines milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools

  • Deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope which may have commercial or deadline implications, identify potential issues and risk, and devise contingency plans to get the project back on track

  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle

  • Set and continually lead project expectations with team members and other stakeholders, (internal or external)

  • Book and manage the required resources with the relevant skills needed to deliver projects in line with budget

  • Day to day management of the software delivery progress, reporting issues, proposed resolutions and any escalations back to the Senior Manager

  • Ensure client quality documentation is produced for the project delivery (Designs, test approach, system test summary report, release notes, training packs etc.)

  • Manage the implementation of the delivery into customer environments (test and production), including any configuration, and ensuring a smooth transition to Live service

  • Contribute to improving team processes by identifying process improvements or inefficient work practices

  • Line Management for a team, undertaking bi-annual performance reviews, setting and monitoring goals and assisting with their growth and development and ensure they are adhering to the company policies and processes

  • Coach, mentor and motivate project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work

  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project

  • Assure project contractual documents are completed and signed

  • Comply with the Programme Management Methodology (PMM) based on PRINCE II

  • Ensure the project delivery has the required awareness of and ensures compliance to ISO9001, ISO27001, ISO22301 where applicable

  • Any other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Meticulous, structured with excellent attention to detail
  • Experienced dealing with external and internal stakeholders at senior levels
  • Commercially aware and able to demonstrate sound judgment and make decisions
  • Highly customer-focused and client-facing with experience of working with third parties and in a vendor environment
  • A strong negotiator with the ability to gain cooperation from a wide variety of sources
  • A problem solver with the ability to take ownership of issues and drive resolution
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Able to persuade, encourage and motivate others, often in challenging situations
  • Able to travel within and outside of the UK to the client’s client sites for periods of time
  • Desirable: Knowledge of the Telecommunications industry
  • Desirable technical skills: MS Project and or other project management planning tools, PlanView, Jira, Confluence, Source Code Version Control Tools (. Perforce), Agile techniques
  • Desirable: a customer-focused project manager with experience of software delivery projects into a customer environment
  • Desirable: experience of managing IT development projects using a formal development methodology, including waterfall and agile
