An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading Consultancy business for the Trade & Customs sector, in a Trainee Global Consulting role, based at offices in Reading, Berkshire.

This is an incredibly varied role that would suit someone who has recently started their career within the Import / Export World and is keen to be part of a leading business within the Shipping & Logistics, that has great potential for future growth.

Trainee Global Consulting

The Trainee is an entrance role into the Global Consulting Trade and Customs Consulting team. The role consists of minimum 6 months training and practice to enable the employee to then step into a more independent and incredibly varied role as Associate Consultant.

A Trainee will be trained in a team and learn how to coordinate and organise the full range of consulting services, starting with assisting more senior consultants in delivering consultancy services to clients.

A Trainee will receive extensive internal and/or external training as well as online training for customs legislation and foreign trade, together with daily guidance and support.

Reporting line:

Reporting to Customs Department Manager

Main tasks and responsibilities:

* Be engaged to learn and be able to support senior colleagues in a wide range of different client projects.

* Be engaged to learn the basic understanding of timely and accurate delivery of all activities relevant to client projects.

* Ensure that work carried out complies with appropriate standards.

* Gain insights to client challenges throughout the global supply chain.

* To be an active team member who will exchange knowledge and expertise.

* Training to a level where a generalist skillset is obtained with awareness of most tasks in the team.

* To engender team spirit and staff engagement.

Knowledge/ Skills required:

Technical Skills:

* Entry level understanding of classification, valuation, rules of origin, global supply chain as well as various schemes such as Authorised Economic Operators (AEO).

* Experience with Customs Systems

* Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PPT, Teams, SharePoint

Soft Skills:

* Strong customer-facing and interaction skills with high-level of customer orientation

* Team engagement and support

* The ability to work under pressure to deadline

* Good communication skills in English

* Support and live company values

* Attention to detail

* Pro active personality and desire to increase general business acumen including business development

* Exemplary desire to satisfy the Customer Service
