    |I am a happy, cheeky and jolly 8 year old lad with Autism. I have a great sense of humour, and although non verbal I am really expressive and use Makaton sign language so you will understand my communication once you get to know me.
  • I am outgoing and love football, swimming and crafts. I love going to school which I attend full time.

  • I have no medical needs.

  • I am looking for a person or persons to engage in activities or learning at my home and take me out to activities of my choice on 2 days a week after school – on a Tuesday, possibly to the climbing centre, and also a Thursday for football which is really important to me.

  • On occasions we would just stay at my home and play in the garden or do crafts etc.

  • \*\*Summary of Duties\*\*
    |To provide support to access various social, recreational activities. You must therefore have a clean driving license & your own vehicle.
  • Pick up from school at 3.15pm to take to chosen activity. Drop child back home after activity 6.15pm, OR, Pick up from home 4.00pm

  • Keep and fill out a work diary of what was done and how child was for parents' information.

  • Report any concerns back to family.

  • To assist in the maintenance of independent living and so provide him with a greater range of opportunities to enhance his lifestyle.

  • On occasion, support the child at their home and engage in activities and play including in the garden.

  • Bring forward any ideas for an activity to accompany child to.

  • Ensure child is safe at all times.

  • All support to be provided using a person centred approach.

  • Support child discreetly.

  • Attend any training Identified.

  • The post will include 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (pro-rata)

  • Any expenses including mileage incurred whilst working will be reimbursed to you.

  • The ideal person will have a good sense of humour and should also display plenty of energy, initiative and enthusiasm.

  • They should be playful and not be too serious, but at the same time be able to be firm and assertive when needed.

  • In addition, applicants should be patient and trustworthy with a flexible and empathic attitude.

  • The applicant must be confident and a great communicator.

  • Someone with Makaton knowledge and experience would be very desirable.

  • Someone willing to undergo Makaton training and 1st Aid Training.

  • A positive attitude and clear understanding of confidentiality is essential. Promoting the independence of the client will be the main focus for any support.

  • You must be reliable, friendly and punctual.

  • To enable cover for holidays and sickness, I would consider splitting the job between 2 people, one for a Tuesday & one for a Thursday, covering both days during any holiday or sickness. Please state on your application what you would prefer – the full hours on both days, or a Tues or a Thurs.
