A vacancy has arisen for a Facilities Manager to join our world class manufacturing business in Middlesex

Reporting to the Test House Manager – the purpose of this role is to ensure that the Environmental Test House buildings meet health and safety requirements and that the facilities comply with applicable legislation

To ensure all facility and equipment maintenance / inspection tasks are appropriately scheduled and completed

Working in conjunction with the Environmental Test departmental supervisors, support the departmental manager to plan for future development in line with strategic business plans including the preparation of documents to issue tenders to contractors

To respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and deal with the consequences

To be the departmental POC for all visiting contractors

*We are looking for candidates with a health and safety and project management background. The facilities focus is less important for this position. We are looking for candidates who have proven experience of managing technical solutions. This position won’t have any direct reports but you will be responsible for managing 3rd party contractors, as well as supporting the development of the facility in terms of research and Direct, coordinate and plan essential services such as security, maintenance, electrical safety checks, cleaning, equipment preventative maintenance, inspections and repair.

  1. Project manage, supervise and coordinate the work of contractors brought into the department to perform building maintenance, equipment servicing or site surveys.
  2. To source service providers through research and preparation of documents to issue tenders for contractors
  3. Review and approve all risk assessment / RAMS supplied by external contractors prior to the undertaking of any work within the department.
  4. Ensure correct induction of contractors prior to commencement of internal works, issue Permit to work where required
  5. Manage and lead change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities
  6. Check that agreed work by internal staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies
  7. Calculate and compares costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of applicable laws and building codes, safety legislation and approved codes of practice

Experience of managing subcontractors

Solid understanding and practice of Health & Safety compliance

Working knowledge of the HSE Explosive Regulations ER2014 (or most current version thereof)

HND or Foundation degree in facilities management or similar building service based education.
