If you are looking for an opportunity as the most senior member of a structural engineering department with a market-leading subcontractor of hybrid structures, then this role will be of interest to you.
A great opportunity for a Chief Structural Engineer/Senior Structural Engineer has opened up within the in-house design team of a market-leading subcontractor of Hybrid structures located in the West Midlands.
They manage the design, procurement, and construction of hybrid structures, such as high-rise apartments, office buildings, custodial suites, and bespoke structures using their own personnel to erect the precast elements and any structural steelwork components that form part of their contract.
Competitive base salary paid up to £75,000, a TAX-FREE bonus equal to 5% of base salary, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Contributed pension (EE 5%, ER 4%), 3x Life assurance cover, Bupa Private Health Insurance.
Essential requirements for the role:
Professional Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering qualification • Extensive structural engineering experience gained across multiple sectors especially with the use of pre-cast concrete or RC frame • Good sound knowledge of Office 365 Software, particularly Excel
Desirable requirements for the role:
Specialist experience of pre-cast concrete formwork and hybrid frames • Previous experience of working for a pre-cast concrete/hybrid specialist • IEng or/and MIStructE Chartership • Experience of mentoring and training others • Valid CSCS Card
Management requirements: To lead mentor and mature the lead structural engineers and junior engineers within the in-house design department, by assisting with the most technical aspects of the design phase of the projects.
Contract engineering requirements, comprising: • preparation of structural calculations, design sketches, specifications etc. for all structural elements, connections, stability, robustness, lifting, temporary works etc. • briefing technicians and monitoring production of structural drawings • performing engineering checks on completed drawings, performing engineering checks on suppliers drawings and designs (hollowcore, double-tees, delta beams etc. • responding to manufacturing queries, site queries, and resolving construction issues.
Support of Sales and Estimating Division, comprising: • Initial feasibility schemes for individual contracts in conjunction with Estimating Department. Tender design solutions including scheme designs, initial engineering analysis for stability and robustness along with elemental designs • Engagement with the supply chain to assist in pricing • Production of design drawings/sketches, scheme mark-ups as appropriate to convey design intent Support of in-house Design office, comprising: Assisting in the proficient handover of contracts from Estimating Department including all necessary technical analysis and calculations undertaken at the tender stage. •
