Category: Academic | Department: London College of Music | Location: St Mary's Road | Closing Date: 09 Nov 2014 | The University of West London is a leading modern university specialising in the education and development of exceptional creative, business and service professionals.The London College of Music is the largest specialist music and performing arts institution in the UK, and is looking to appoint a Research Assistant.The University of West London (UWL) is shortly due to undertake an AHRC-funded research project; jointly with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) to develop the traditional music album in App format with interactive playback. In short, the audio might sound subtlety or more dramatically different each time it is played.UWL will be employing a research assistant to work on this project for an equivalent of three months (full time) starting in early November.  Part-time employment over a longer tenure, starting earlier might be negotiated, please note the above salary would be pro-rata'd accordingly. The role will entail analysing audio algorithms already created in Max/MSP, perhaps developing them, and realising them into a prototype iOS App.The successful applicant will be experienced in Xcode, preferably with a track record of audio-based App releases, and be ready to work in Swift. In addition, experience of Max/MSP is essential. Experience of music production, algorithmic composition, other aspects of audio DSP and/or sound effects algorithms would be an advantage.
