Chartered Building Surveyor is required for a Sussex based office of a successful multi-disciplinary property consultancy. They are ideally looking for a recently qualified surveyor, with around a year PQE in a similar role, who will be able to thrive in a busy environment, supporting the building consultancy team. You will be working in a team of MRICS qualified Building Surveyors working with investor, landlord and occupier clients and will be comfortable in client-facing business generation. The role will involve a mix of professional and project based surveying work with direct exposure to a wide cross section of internal and external clients and sectors.You will be office based and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, but will work on a wide regional basis and must hold a full, clean driving licence, and be willing and able to travel. The candidate will support senior colleagues in the delivery of a broad range of both project and professional work and will be expected to contribute to the following duties as an example: Preparation of general reports and recommendation to clients including but not limited to: Due diligenceFeasibility studiesCondition and / or maintenance reports Schedules of DilapidationsNegotiating settlementsBuilding Reinstatement Cost Assessments Specifications / schedule of works Outline and working drawings Project programmes Party Wall or other neighbourly mattersAssessment of condition of existing buildings, identify and analyse defects, including proposals for repairPreparation and procurement of budget estimates for works Submission and negotiations of proposals to local authorities and local planning authoritiesPreparation of contract documents. Tendering and evaluation Contract administration, valuation and certification Monitoring of building works and existing structures for compliance with regulations and bye-laws and client's requirementsAdvise on the Health & Safety aspects of buildingsAdvise on Construction Design and Management regulationsPerformance of duties not specifically listed above but which may reasonably be expected of a competent Building Surveyor The successful candidate will be offered a salary ranging from £30k to £45k with a salary review after probation, a generous holiday allowance and excellent benefits package. The ideal candidate will have: Degree in Building Surveying with minimum three years' experience, ideally in private practice Ideally MRICS qualified Good client facing skills with an ability / potential to generate - as well as deliver - both repeat and new business Fully computer literate, and AutoCAD, NBS and Microsoft proficient Good attention to detail High level of enthusiasm and demonstrate a strong desire to succeed in all they doThe job itself will be split between the office and field and provides an interesting mix of opportunities and experiences for the right candidate to develop their career.
