Overall Purpose of Job:To ensure that callers and visitors to the Natural History Museum are provided with a high quality, visitor focused customer service, to ensure that their experience is enjoyable whilst maximising income generation activities. The Visitor Assistant team is responsible for the following areas:• Ticket desk sales• Donations targets• Membership targets• Retail targets• Information desks and visitor reception• Telephone contact centre• Schools bookings• Customer services• Special exhibitions • Cloakrooms• Queue Sales• Gallery Patrol• Queue Management• Shop FloorVisitor experience staff will generally be based in a specific area on an ongoing basis, but everyone is expected to have an understanding of the overall operation and be prepared to assist in all other areas where necessary. Visitor Assistant acts as the Museum’s key front-line team providing a welcoming, friendly and safe environment with an approachable, professional, and knowledgeable team. QualificationsA level Skills• Assist with ‘on-the-job’ training and development of new and inexperienced staff.• On a voluntary basis, act as ‘trouble-shooter’ for the team, assisting the Visitor Engagement Managers in covering cash handling responsibilities, daily paperwork and other duties deemed appropriate, • Use telephones, radios, PCs, IT applications and other technology as required to carry out your duties.• Assist team members and other Museum staff as required.• Attend training courses as requested.• Adhere to the Museum’s code of conduct and uniform regulations• Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
