Research Assistant: Marine Conservation & Geospatial Analysis

Reference: A4568Description: The Marine Institute seeks to appoint a keen and motivated individual with a conservation ecology or geospatial analysis background to support Professor Martin Attrill and Dr Olivia Langmead and work on a research project funded by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. This project aims to increase understanding of how the level of management of marine protected areas can influence the delivery of marine ecosystem services. This will be addressed using a variety of different tools including modelling, scaling techniques and case study analysis. This work is designed to reveal how ecosystem services interact with each other and human activities at individual site scale, informing later work at landscape level, including the effects of fisheries exclusions and displacement on overall ecosystem service provision. We are seeking an individual to undertake basic research including GIS mapping and spatial analysis, geoprocessing, manipulating large datasets, statistical analysis and providing research and administrative support to the academic managers responsible for the delivery of this research project within the Marine Institute. This is a part-time position working 18.5 hours per week on a fixed-term basis commencing 11th January 2016 until 30th April 2017.For any further queries on this post please email Dr Langmead on ######### .
