Projects Manager Location: Swindon Salary: Competitive Job type: Permanent, Full time The company was set up by two engineers in 1992 to solve a problem, and that's what they have been doing ever since. They are now seeking an experienced Projects Manager. The Projects Manager will be responsible for managing a team who carry out work winning, design engineering and project delivery activities for Tapchanger Services, AVC Panels and Consultancy offerings. The Projects Manager will responsible for all aspects of business management within the Project and Design Engineering functions. Responsibilities of the Projects Manager: The people management and development of the Project Engineering and Design teams Leading or supporting Business development and sales activity to maintain and expand current client offerings Overall responsibility for managing the design team to provide accurate and timely AVC Panel and Scheme designs to internal teams Ensuring all Tapchanger Services, AVC Panels and Consultancy projects are delivered to time and budget including undertaking or supporting Project Management activity as necessary Monitoring monthly Invoicing Forecasts and project completion, establishing and achieving productivity and utilisation targets to ensure delivery is on time and on budget Reporting on project progress and forecasts at the weekly projects dept. meeting. Establishing and managing overhead budgets directly related to the Projects activity Establish, maintain and manage relationships throughout the supply chain to deliver Fundamentals Offerings Represent the business at customer visits and industry events Oversee and support delivery of refurbishment and spare parts activity as part of the tapchanger services offering and work with other departments to maximise productivity, managing stock levels to minimise lead times on key activity and to be able to react to urgent requests on repeat activity Liaise with other departments across the business to ensure that Company Policies and procedures are relevant and that employees operate within these guidelines at all times. Establish and maintain improved control procedures to remove issues relating to poor quality Requirements of the Projects Manager: Relevant power industry related engineering qualifications preferable NEBOSH or IOSH Qualified Proven track record in management of project delivery and design activities within the electricity supply industry Working with TSOs, DNOs, Power Generators and Industrial customers Knowledge of the operation of power systems at the substation and network level Experience of an HV/EHV substation environment Good understanding of business management responsibilities Financial awareness in terms of P&L / Balance Sheet understanding Establishing flexible field services resources to maintain a good level of utilisation Line management and people development experience with the ability to lead a team with diverse skills and experience Project management experience Experience of producing reports, specifications and statements of work Experience of working within ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 management systems to deliver on time and to budget Capability to communicate well to a good standard of written and verbal English Capability to read, understand and communicate through technical specifications and drawings This role would suit a self-motivated individual with the ability to think laterally to solve day to day issues and problems. They will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to relate well to colleagues and clients and their direct teams.
