CK Group are recruiting for an Analytical Technologist to join a global materials manufacturing company based near Wigan, on a full time, permanent basis.

The Company:
Our client is a global leader in manufacturing glass for architectural, automotive and technical sectors. They strive to be the best innovator of high-performance glass and glazing solutions. Within their Material Properties & Surface Analysis Team they now have an exciting opportunity for a Technologist to join, to assist with providing expertise in surface analytical techniques for new product and process development. They offer a competitive salary of £26,000- £30,000 depending on experience, along with excellent benefits including 25 days holiday, flexible working hours, company pension and also the opportunity to develop into a technical specialist within the team.

Location:
The Analytical Technologist will be based at the company's site near Wigan, easily commutable by road from Merseyside including Liverpool, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and Manchester. Please note a full UK driving licence and car ownership is required due to the company's location.

Analytical Technologist Role:
Your main duties will be:
-Analysis via TOF-SIMS, XPS & XRD techniques
-Use of other techniques within the department
-The operation of complex instruments for the analysis of glass, thin films and other materials
-The interpretation of results generated, preparation of formal reports and the use of other forms of communication to explain results
-Contribution to multidisciplinary project teams and troubleshooting activities
-Attend technical conferences and instrument user groups
-Carry out instrument maintenance activities

Your Background:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
-Degree qualified or equivalent in chemistry, physics or materials science - essential
-Hands-on experience of any of TOF-SIMS, XPS and/ or XRD or a background in general analytical techniques as a minimum
-Experience of technical report writing
-Innovative, self-motivated and able to work as a part of a small team
-Influential skills, able to communicate ideas clearly, build rapport and make a positive and credible impact
-Interested to understand internal and external customer circumstances, problems, expectations and needs
-Full UK driving licence and car ownership - essential
