A marvellous opportunity for an Customs Clearance Manager to lead and manage the Customs department for a large 3pl based in Dover has arisen. We are looking for someone vastly experience in Customs, previous experience in a customs agency, airport or port would be highly advantageous. This role is to be based in Dover however the organisation are willing to offer a full relocation for anyone open to a move to the coast!
A prestigious Logistics service provider with a strong national presence needs an Import / Export specialist to manage their new Customs function at their site in Dover. This role may appeal to someone with a wide knowledge of Customs / Freight Forwarding practices. The regulations and laws in this area are everchanging so we need someone who keeps up to date with the industry.
Brexit will bring many challenges to this business, especially those regarding the customs procedures needed to comply with in order to trade across the EU (including Ireland) as a member of a non-EU market. It will be your role to address these challenges and ensure sufficient preparation is put in place for customs regulations to be adhered to from day one. You will give company-wide support and direction by being the in-house export / import consultant; managing all customs and tariff projects, developing the necessary Standard Operating Procedures and owning the relationship with the HMRC. Additionally, you will develop the International Customs team to support you as your role grows.
Applicants need an excellent knowledge of:
▪ customs compliance / import/export control - import and export Declarations, Commercial Invoices, Commodity Codes, Certificate of Origins etc
▪ operational EU importing and exporting, including providing complete and accurate electronic customs data
▪ CHIEF and CDS
You will also need to be able to:
▪ support Customer Service and logistics teams with import / export compliance
▪ review and audit commercial documents from a compliance perspective
▪ work closely across all levels of the organisation and effectively communicate on an international scale.
It's a given that you will have strong interpersonal skills as well as good oral and written abilities. You will also need to have the self-confidence and presence needed to make an impact at an early stage whilst gaining respect across all levels of the business.
