HR Policy Manager/ Business Advisor

Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Edinburgh to recruit for an HR Policy/Business Manager on a 6 months basis. The role is full time and the rate of pay is £30,540 - £35,231 depending on experience

Overall Purpose:
You will be a confident, flexible, enthusiastic and experienced Human Resources practitioner and will work closely with colleagues in the Human Resources Unit, PCS Trade Union and the business to develop new employment policies/guidance and revise existing policies/guidance in line with best practice, employment legislation, annual policy review schedule and organisational/system development. Your key focus will be on COVID-19 policy and guidance ensuring that it is developed/revised in line with government and NHS guidance. You will also be the policy representative for the implementation of the new people system (Itrent). You will also support the HR Business Advisers as required to provide comprehensive advice and guidance to managers and employees. You will work as part of a centralised HR Team based in Saughton House, Edinburgh, however the current working arrangement is home working. Occasional travel may be required however we anticipate this to be very minimal.

You will also assist with the delivery of the People Strategy, HR Business Plan, Employee Relations Action plan, Works Planner and develop practical and strategic solutions in line with HR best practice.

Skills Required
Demonstrate track record of providing wide ranging, accurate generalist HR advice and guidance to managers and employees (Essential)
Knowledge of employment legislation, and experience of applying this in the workplace through policies, procedures and provision of advice (Essential)
Possesses excellent analytical, decision making, and influencing skills with the ability to justify rationale (Essential)
Possesses excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders (Essential)
Educated to degree level or equivalent (Essential)
Associate Member of CIPD (Human Resource Management) (Essential)
Knowledge and experience of using coaching (Desirable)
Presentation and facilitation Skills (Essential)
Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft packages (Essential)
Experienced in drafting papers and reports (Essential)
Experience in developing and revising employment policies (Essential)
Experience in participating in corporate and change projects (Desirable)
Experience in carrying out job evaluation (Desirable)
