Technical Author Varied and key role has arisen for an experienced Technical Author to work for this successful manufacturer operating as part of a prestigious global business.

The company is investing heavily in new product development and re-vamp of existing products and as such an experienced Technical Author is sought to undertake production of operation, training manuals, maintenance statements and a diverse range of associated technical documentation for the site.
As Technical Author you will work closely at a technical level with the applications and development team (and be trained to gain an in-depth knowledge of a range of complex electrical / mechanical products) across a range of different key projects for the business.
The main functions and duties of the Technical Author role are: Using your engineering expertise to take a spec from technical departments to produce technical documentation / publications, training material, marketing, contractual and company documents that are literate, clearly illustrated, and succinct, and meet the requirements of the customer Interpret and understand engineering design drawings for complex, high value electro-mechanical products You will use illustrations and drawings within the technical documentation and therefore a working knowledge of AutoCAD / 3D CAD will be a distinct advantage.
Be familiar with both AutoCAD and MS Visio where required to draw simple circuit diagrams and layouts of products.
(Also the ability to create illustrations and exploded images from a 3DCAD advantageous but not essential) Understand or have the capability to learn the various industry recognised specifications Maintain a consistent corporate image for all documentation and technical data To prepare all defined documentation for distribution with a project The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, with prior experience of having produced technical documentation / manuals for complex electro-mechanical equipment or similar with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings required.
Ability to use AutoCAD and Visio and draw simple circuit diagrams and layouts of the products.
Any experience of 3D CAD to create illustrations and exploded images advantageous (but not essential) Work with the MRP system to lookup part numbers and read Bill of Materials (BOMs).
