SEN Teaching Assistant - Dorking

This school supports boys, aged 9-16 with social, emotional and mental health needs, some with moderate learning and attachment difficulties. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Classes are kept small, and lessons carefully planned to support the needs of the class and individuals

The role involves:
-Providing teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
-Providing group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
-Working individually with learners/students to develop work.
-Supporting the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
-Monitoring and evaluating learners' learning under the guidance of the teacher
-Assisting teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
-Supporting all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas
Key Skills and Qualifications:
-Good interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and teachers
-Good numeracy and literacy skills
-Experience of working in a special school environment is desirable, but not essential
-A positive attitude and a passion for working with EBD children
