Job context
Campus Services is looking for an outstanding Marketing and Communications Assistant to join their busy marketing team for a 12-month period.
Campus Service is responsible for a very large range of services within the University including student accommodation, catering, sport and fitness, cleaning and waste management, conferences and events, delivering the University's post, day nurseries, security and emergency response, Winterbourne House and Garden.
The successful candidate will be involved in delivering marketing strategies for individual areas of Campus Services. The postholder will have at least 2 years' experience working within a marketing role including thorough knowledge of social media and multi-channel marketing campaigns.
Job summary
This role supports the marketing and communications for either specific areas of Campus Services, or more widely across the entire department.
Reporting directly to the Marketing Manager, this post works within a busy team of marketing, digital and design professionals. The postholder will proactively deliver activities and provide support to colleagues through a range of methods.
Main duties

  • Researching and writing copy for a variety of multi-channel marketing campaigns, including case studies, posters, publications and websites.

  • Production of posters, leaflets and brochures; including writing copy, liaising with the in-house design team and sourcing images while upholding the brand guidelines.

  • Supporting the development and delivery of multi-channel communication activities to key stakeholders.

  • Working with the team to deliver a range of social media activity.

  • Coordination of communications briefings, newsletters and social media campaigns, as appropriate.

  • Conducting competitor analysis and making recommendations as appropriate.

  • Delivering market research activity . arranging focus groups and using results to make recommendations.

  • Collating, analysing and interpreting data in relation to metrics and reviewing activities in line with marketing campaigns undertaken.

  • Providing administrative support for the team including the planning of projects on the in-house project management system, arranging meetings and taking meeting notes.

  • Processing financial requisitions in line with the budget.

  • Dealing with a wide range of more complex enquiries and correspondence independently, or exercising judgement to redirect them to senior colleagues or other departments within the University.

  • Supports equality and values diversity, moderating own behaviour to avoid unfair discriminatory impact or bias on others.

  • Adopting sustainable workplace practices to minimise environmental impacts wherever possible and support the team's sustainability agenda.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Educated to A Level standard, or equivalent level 3 qualification such as a Level 3 NVQ, or level 3 national diploma or relevant work experience evidencing the skills and ability to undertake the role.

  • Minimum of grade C in Mathematics and English at GCSE or equivalent.

  • Professional experience in a Marketing role.

  • Highly proficient IT skills, including MS Office and web editing software. The post holder should also be confident and able to quickly learn new IT skills and software packages as required.

  • Proven ability to plan ahead and anticipate requirements, proactively planning own (and sometimes others' workloads) to manage time effectively, progress tasks concurrently and work to deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write for different audiences, and to required deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. The postholder must inspire confidence and command authority with a range of colleagues and provide excellent customer service at all times.

  • A high degree of professionalism, tact, and diplomacy, and the ability to exercise discretion regarding the handling and management of sensitive information/issues.

  • A high degree of initiative, personal judgement, resourcefulness, flexibility, and self-motivation.

  • Ability to work effectively in a large, complex organisation, and to develop a good understanding of how Campus Services, the university and higher education institutions work.

  • Ability to understand policy and procedures and how to apply these.

  • Understands the importance of equality and diversity in the workplace

  • Ability to identify and respond to equality and diversity issues in line with relevant policies and procedures
