Building and Facilities Manager Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM), Jenner Institute, Clinical BioManufacturing Facility (CBF), Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7JT Grade 7: Salary in range £33,309 - £40,927 (with discretionary range to £44,706) per annum.
We seek a highly motivated Buildings and Facilities Manager to manage the CBF's facilities team at the Jenner Institute. The successful applicant will join our close-knit, experienced and passionate team to make a truly significant contribution in the fight against disease with global impact. The CBF was at the forefront of delivering the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 in record time. Previously the CBF was also instrumental in the rapid delivery of Ebola vaccines to UK trials, and have manufactured, imported, and released a broad portfolio of IMPs to trials in the UK and globally over the past 20 years. The CBF is looking forward to continuing to support a wide range of vaccine and other biologics manufacturing, with plans for expansion and diversification in short- to medium term.
This new role offers a varied and exciting opportunity for someone with facilities management expertise and project management knowledge. We are looking for a talented and motivated professional with a proven track record of maintaining facilities and equipment operational up to high standards within a highly regulated environment, similar to GMP and ISO. You will have a thorough understanding of buildings facilities and project management issues and procedures together with a proactive approach to best practices and preventative maintenance.
While accountable to the Head of CBF, you will report to the Senior Buildings and Facilities Manager at the Jenner Institute to maintain first-class facilities, equipment and working environments to enable the building's occupants to carry out their world-class research activities. You will manage and supervise the work of the facilities team and specialist technical services provision for the CBF, including maintenance and fumigation in BSL2 laboratories and cleanrooms. You will support the management team in the expansion of facilities and evolution of facilities management as the CBF grows. You will be operating at all times within the CBF's quality management system to ensure GMP compliance. You will have demonstrable experience of building and facilities management at manager level and an understating of project management in a scientific or highly regulated environment. You will have experience of line managing a team with the ability to encourage personal development, recognise and respond to research groups' diverse needs, and deal with competing pressures and stakeholder expectations. Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail will be required to succeed in this role.
