Dating back to 1430, history, character and charm await guests around every corner. This charming English historic inn retains its heritage yet provides every contemporary comfort. Currently seeking a permanent Commis Chef for the restaurant in West Sussex. They are currently seeking someone with a passion for good food that is ready to continue developing their career. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, mid-morning coffee or a full afternoon tea. With its inglenook fireplace and welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant is a stunning setting or guests may like to sit by the fire in the oak-beamed bar or bask in the warmth of their conservatory. When the sun shines guests often head outside to the terrace or inner courtyard. As Commis Chef you will be part of a young team that thrives on the pressure of working in a busy food operation. You will be a proactive team member who is happy to support in all areas of a busy kitchen as required

Key Features of the Role: You will need to be a special Commis Chef, somebody with a sleeves roll-up attitude and a desire to succeed as an important member of the team Working under a very talented Head Chef and the team who will give you the necessary guidance that will increase your ability and knowledge of the catering industry Prepare, cook and serve meals, snacks, breakfast etc, ensuring compliance to the company standards required and client's satisfaction Be fully aware of kitchen layout and function of equipment within, keeping fridge, food production areas and stores clean and tidy and work with raw materials and dry goods in a proper stock rotation and hygienic manner Assist with the service and cleaning down of kitchen event areas as required Present a smart, tidy, professional appearance at all times and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene Along with the kitchen team, ensure that the assets such as cooking equipment, machines, storage facilities, interior and exterior fabrics etc, are well looked after, maintained and cared. Working in various sections of the kitchen including food preparation, afternoon tea, sandwiches/paninis, larder and breakfast sections Following instructions and procedures given by the kitchen management team Ensuring high standards and quality is met Adhering to food safety requirements

Knowledge and Skills: Be an existing Commis Chef with some experience at the same level Ideally possess some catering qualifications or working towards them Familiar with all current legislation regarding food hygiene, safety, risk assessments etc. A great passion for cooking and shows great enthusiasm to learn Used to working with fresh, seasonal ingredients ideally obsessed with British cuisine Have a 'can do' attitude and ambition to progress your career Possess excellent communication and team skills

What's on Offer?
