Outstanding SEN School

I am seeking to appoint a class based SEN teacher to a friendly special school based in North East London. The school is a specialist local authority run provision for children aged between 2 and 11 with autism (ASC), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and complex needs. The population includes children with additional needs, such as physical or sensory difficulties.
The specific class that they are seeking to appoint to is a mixed Y2/3 ASC class of 8 pupils. The class are all working between P Levels and national curriculum level 1. The curriculum is a sensory one based loosely on the EYFS/KS1 framework most of the children have low levels of communication competence as a result PECS is used each day in the classroom to support communication. The class is supported by three full time specially trained LSAs who will help support a smooth transition in class. The LSAs have been with the class for nearly two years having moved up the school with the majority of pupils since reception. As a result the successful applicant will benefit from their considerable insight and continuity in the classroom.
This North East London based school has a great reputation having achieved an outstanding OfSTED in 2015. Classes are organised within the key stages (in exceptional circumstances this may change) and children are grouped in order to deliver outstanding teaching strategies to meet their needs. The Headteacher is a visible and approachable presence in school who takes the time to get to know every pupil and member of staff personally. This personable approach and attention to detail has fostered a really positive and collaborate working environment where every member of staff from the lunchtime supervisors through to the Head feel part of a team that works through problems and celebrates success together.
The headteacher is looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic teacher for children with either Key Stage 1/2 or EYFS experience. The Head has made it clear that whilst experience teaching in a specialist SEN school would be advantageous the key criteria is to appoint a good or outstanding classroom teacher. This means that they welcome applications from mainstream teachers with some ASC knowledge, overseas trained teachers with excellent spoken and written English and phonics and NQTs. Please do not be put off if your ASC knowledge is limited as there will be fantastic support and good teaching ability and the right attitude are the key attributes to be a success at this school any skills gaps can and will be supported.
The successful candidate will:
Be a proven good or outstanding teacher
The passion, drive and dedication to become an exceptional ASC classroom practitioner
Have a good understanding of the EYFS or KS1 curriculum framework
Have the interpersonal skills to manage a large class team (3 LSAs) and to work collaboratively with multiagency staff, external agencies and parents/carers.
Have a clear focus on achievement, progress and improving outcomes for ASC students and what allows these children to progress.
Be committed to inclusion and to enabling all pupils to succeed in all areas of their educational experiences in school and out in the wider community
