SEN Support Worker
£70 - £85 per day
A complex needs school in Southwark are looking for strong and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to work in an Ofsted rated Outstanding' School starting in June 2019, this is a long term role until the end of the academic year. The school have expressed interest in appointing new members of staff for September so be sure to get your application in early.
The school caters for secondary aged students from 11-19 years old, they are a positive and focused community who acknowledge the rights of their students to learn and develop as individuals. The school has many sensory aspects to the design to enable students to engage with their learning at every opportunity. It is an essential part of the ethos of the school that they aspire to be a centre of educational excellence for students with severe and complex learning needs. The school take pride on ensuring that the staff members are encouraging, creative, motivational and dedicated to providing a learning environment to enhance progression and individual development.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant you can expect to be:
- Supporting the class teacher with classes no more than 11 students per class.
- Often work 1:1 with pupils who require extra support and guidance with their studies.
- Undergo Training and further development opportunities.
- Work alongside other professionals who all share the same passion for supporting students development.
The successful candidates would be expected to have previous experience working within an alternative school setting, SEN experience including ASD and complex needs. Have additional behaviour management training, for example; Makaton, Team Teach, STEPS (Desirable). Be experienced and have an interest in working with children/young people in some capacity. Be enthusiastic and willing to learn and support their students development, academically and personally. Above all, you must be approachable, eager and promote positive behaviour management and enjoy a challenge.
