SEN Support - Rochdale

Are you an ambitious graduate, looking for paid work which will supplement your application to a Secondary PGCE for September 2021? Are you unsure whether a career in education is for you? Are you a graduate who already enjoys working with young people, who is looking for more formal experience? Are you a naturally confident, lively individual who has great time management skills who believes they can improve the outcomes of young people?

We can help you. Our dedicated education team have over thirty years' experience of matching graduates to schools, for assignments ranging in length from a single day, to a full academic year.

And we would love to hear from you - times are different and challenging at the moment, but your support will be invaluable to young people when they start to settle back into school.

We are specifically working with a large school in Rochdale, in particular their SENCO, who has told us that they expect to require the support of talented, skilled graduates, to support their cover team, come the start of the New Year. If you have patience, a great sense of humour, and are dedicated on improving the lives of young people, these opportunities are for you. This work is challenging, different, yet extremely rewarding. You will be working closely with students who may have difficulties focussing and engaging with "normal" classroom work - so patience is key, along with a calm, pleasant smile and a relaxing attitude to work. No two days will ever be the same - not for you, or the children you work with.

This particular role is to work specifically with students who display challenging behaviours - you will be providing informal and formal mentoring, a calming influence on their mentality, and educational support where needed. You don't need to be an expert in every school subject - just be a patient person who always has a big smile. Your first few weeks will be difficult - but once you and your students are settled and relaxed with each other, you will find the rewards are fantastic.

Our school always has a demand for high-calibre teaching assistants too - so if you are a Level 3 TA and want to work in a rewarding, refreshing school - and be a part of a close-knit team which OfSTED has recognised as "outstanding", then this could be a great opportunity for you to secure work in a new school.

How do you get to our school? Well they are a little more rural than most, but there is a tram station only a fifteen minute walk away and there are several regular bus services from Rochdale and Bury. Of course you can drive there too; you can use the M66 at Bury/Heywood or the M62 and you are a ten minute journey from both junctions.

You will also develop communication skills - both with young people, and also with the teaching staff. Again, this stands you in great stead when you come to apply for further qualifications.

Cover Supervisor and Learning Mentor work provides a great platform for graduates - both with practical experience, and also knowledge to create attractive, engaging personal statements and applications. And don't worry about all that - our process is really easy, and our consultants are more than happy to help you with your applications to QTS courses when the time is right.
