Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Haematology) - Band 8a We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join The haematology day unit team. The haematology day unit is part of the Cancer Strategic Business Unit (SBU) in Guy’s Hospital. Our nurse led service offers apheresis, supportive care and venesection. We care for patients with haematological cancers, sickle cell disease and other haematology diseases. Our aim is to provide expert care to allow patients to avoid hospital admissions and to manage their disease in an ambulatory setting. We are currently open Monday to Friday - . The successful candidate will work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams and will be supported by the senior nursing team and consultants. The post holder will develop new areas of practice, with nursing and consultant staff ensuring quality standards are met. The post holder will work closely with the interdisciplinary team and collaborate with colleagues to ensure that high quality patient care is maintained. The ANP is expected to lead and deliver an expert nursing service within the haematology day unit alongside the day unit nurse manager and other CNSs/ANPs. The ANP will be expected to provide expert support and leadership for staff caring for patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions. Experience of caring for patients with cancer and sickle cell disease is essential as is experience and understanding of the role of apheresis and systemic anti-cancer treatments. The individual will participate in supporting and training with the apheresis and femoral line insertion service as well as developing the care of all patients accessing the service. Experience and understanding caring for patients with haematological malignancies is essential. The individual will act as a professional leader to providing high quality nurse led care. The candidate will be a skilled individual who is working towards a Masters/ level 7 PGDip in Advanced Clinical Practice, who also is forward thinking to step up to this challenge. You will be supported where applicable in gaining further skills in the Advanced Clinical Practice pathway and haematology services. Experience in this specialty is essential. All candidates must be able to provide evidence of a strong commitment to the provision of quality driven, evidence based practice in order to enhance the patient experience. The person we are looking for will have a successful track record of advanced practice at senior nursing level and experience of leading change and achieving service improvements against challenging targets.
