Principal Software Engineer
Spring Technology are working in partnership with one of the UK's most renowned Financial Services sector employers to recruit an outstanding Principal Software Engineer, to work at a critical level in the development and delivery of cutting edge, technology projects.
Applicants with significant knowledge of Agile / Waterfall methodologies and experience of working in a true microservices environment, are strongly encouraged to apply. We are looking for a range of experience levels to join a growing team which is at the heart of an exciting digital and Cloud transformation, with a key focus on either back-end or full stack experience you will need to have worked within a regulated environment. You can be based anywhere for these positions, though would need to get to the office on average 1-2 days per week.
Our client is a Microsoft site and as such you will need excellent knowledge of Git (+ relevant branching strategies), .NET Framework, .NET Core, and SQL/NoSQL. You will have worked in an Azure managed service environment with experience of microservices in production environments. Good knowledge of most of the following tools and technologies will also be essential, Web App, Azure Sql Server, Azure Service Bus, App Insights, Azure Functions, Blob storage, App Insights, Storage Account, KeyVault, API Management Services. Docker, CSS/SASS, AngularJs or React although there are a range of opportunities across different products and services.
Reporting to the Delivery Centre Lead, this role is responsible for the successful technical implementation and delivery of software products within the Scrum/Agile team. Working closely with other technical leads and business teams (especially in the Development Community of Practice) you will promote a cloud-first mentality to software product development.
You will be a technical expert but will also need to devote some of your time to mentoring and line management. This is a fast paced environment which is currently in the process of significant change so the ability to embracing a continuous learning and improvement culture - where the development of new skills and knowledge is paramount - is essential. You will be responsible for technical leadership within a scrum team, ensuring that solutions delivered meet business needs. Contributing to Agile ALM including refinement, planning, release and retrospective sessions
*Promoting a test strong framework and automation to support CI and CD
*Responsible for the quality of the technical work delivered as part of software product development
*Responsible for identifying product improvements required for the ongoing success of the products
*Provides subject matter expertise and is a trusted technical expert.
*Actively contributes to the Software Engineer Community of Practice to further Engineering standards, patterns, and practices.
*Actively involved in architecture decisions and process improvements
