Senior Support Worker Learning Disabilities

Are you ready for the next step in your social care career? Could you mentor a team whilst supporting people with learning disabilities? We love what we do and are recognised as an award winning charity for our passion and dedication. Due to growth, we are now expanding our services in Hemel Hempstead. This is your opportunity to get in at the beginning and help us establish a new registered care provision from scratch. Outline As a Senior, you’ll develop rotas and deputise for the Frontline Manager. You will work closely with the staff team, ensuring people’s support plans are followed. You'll encourage the team and meet development needs, whether that's by way of formal training or day-to-day coaching and reflection. You and your team will be supporting Teresa and Simon two young people with autism and complex needs, as they leave specialist residential education and move into a shared home in Hemel Hempstead. To help with the transition, you will be temporarily based at our Children's home in the Wingrave, Aylesbury area (where both Teresa and Simon are currently living). This is so you're able to get to know them both as well as the families involved and support them when they make this exciting new move to Hemel Hempstead. It may be a scary as well as exciting time for Simon and Teresa so it's important for them to become familiar with you and the team so you're able to provide the best emotional reassurance possible. A little more about Simon and Teresa; Both Simon and Teresa are 19 years old, and have a wide variety of interests. Simon loves to be active, riding his bike and going horse-riding, and he'll go on the biggest, scariest theme park ride Teresa enjoys long walks in big open spaces or going to trampoline parks; her collection of toys and dolls are really important to her, and if you're a fellow lover of Mamma Mia, you'll get on fine Simon and Teresa both need staff who are patient, who won't rush them and who understand their anxieties. They will need a lot of reassurance, especially as this move will be a huge change in their lives, It will be a collaborative process for everyone, getting to know each other and sharing enthusiasms, interests and fun. About you You will need some experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those with learning disabilities. Perhaps you have been a Support Worker or Care Assistant and are ready for more responsibility. It’s important that you share our values, and are ambitious to grow and develop. You’ll need to be flexible and organised, with a positive approach. You must be a driver with a manual licence, as you may be required to drive the service vehicles. Training and Development At Macintyre we fully support your training and development.
