Overview

2Fawcett are recruiting for a part time Senior Payroll Officer to join a company located in Derbyshire on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract basis. This is a professional and vibrant business, who have a friendly and approachable team, which you will be part of as Senior Payroll Officer.

The Role & Responsibilities of Senior Payroll Officer

  • Ensure that all Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to at all times

  • Extensive payroll experience, managing large payrolls of 250+ people

  • Knowledge of best practice accounting procedures and controls and their application to payroll

  • Strong Excel knowledge

  • Proven ability to work with and preserve confidential information

  • Active involvement in Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives, including identifying hazards and near misses, participation in audits and behavioural safety initiatives, and proactive actions to support our world class safety standards

  • Undertake and manage the monthly and year-end payroll process and submissions for all four UK entities, working to strict deadlines

  • Undertake all payroll submissions to HMRC and pension providers, on a timely basis, ensuring monies are paid over at the appropriate time

  • Act as first point of contact with employees with payroll queries, with the external payroll software supplier, and for any queries on payroll from senior management

  • Undertake payroll inductions for any new starters

  • Provide support and analysis to the European Finance Director and Group Financial Controller, as well as other members of the companies senior management team as required

  • Own the longer-term payroll strategy for the group, to include identifying and working to implement improvements, ensuring current and future legislation is met, working to improve processes across the group and make sure they remain fit for purpose.

  • Work with HR on improvement projects as they are identified. Become the group’s expert on payroll legislation

  • Support the companies Finance Assistant to ensure they can act as a suitable cover for the role of Group Payroll Accountant in times of absence

  • Ensure compliance with all Internal controls on payroll processes and act as a first point of contact with internal and external auditors on payroll

Requirements of Senior Payroll Officer

  • Extensive payroll experience, managing large payrolls of 250+ people

  • Knowledge of best practice accounting procedures and controls and their application to payroll

  • Strong Excel knowledge

  • Proven ability to work with and preserve confidential information

  • Experience of working in a head office environment

  • Ability to operate in a value adding capacity, supporting the business at group level

  • People Manager Experience

  • A recognized payroll qualification or qualified by experience
