A specialist developer and provider of ground-breaking medical technologies are actively looking to recruit a Power Converter Engineer to join their expanding in-house team in the North West. This is an additional requirement which has been created as their UK facility continues to grow at an exponential rate.

In addition to participation in the installation, commissioning and operation of switching power converters, high-power and high-voltage systems, the Power Converters Engineer will also carry out measurement campaigns in the fields of EMC, electromagnets magnetic field mapping, and high-current and high-voltage following established procedures and tools.

The post holder will have an active role during the beam commissioning in the control room by performing measurements and developing analysis tools. Once the commissioning phase is completed you will be involved in the continuous operation and maintenance of the machine during dry runs.

The key measures for this role relate to supporting the following priorities:

Perform site acceptance protocols for Power Converts, Magnets and RF sources.
Support Power Converters Operation.
Perform maintenance on high power equipment, diagnostics, and corresponding documentation.
EMC tests (immunity and emission) for different accelerator , Skills and Experience:

Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.
Experience with electrical installations.
Experience with high-power and high-voltage systems.
Experience performing high-bandwidth and high-precision measurements.
Previous experience performing RF measurements.
Previous experience in the fields of EMC and magnetic field measurements.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
Highly motivated, proactive, and are able to consider a range of backgrounds and experiences, so applications are invited from those including R&D Engineers, Power Engineers, Electrical Engineers.
