IT Infrastructure and Services Engineer

£30000 - £35000 per annum + benefits

Our client, a leading, specialist travel company based in Windsor, are looking for an IT Infrastructure and Services Engineer to join their growing team to ensure that their systems remain reliable, resilient and continue to meet the demands of a growing business.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the IT Infrastructure and Services Manager, as well as the CTO and Head of IT, you will design, build and provision the required infrastructure, servers and services as required by the business
  • Taking responsibility for, and assisting with, infrastructure projects that further enhance our existing infrastructure and systems as required for new business objectives
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving 3rd line issues that arise in the production environment
  • Responsible for ensuring that all IT services and servers are maintained and kept up to date with the latest patches
  • Assisting in and performing releases of bespoke applications and services to our Production infrastructure
  • Proactive monitoring and maintenance of the infrastructure using appropriate tools to ensure a high level of uptime is maintained
  • Properly configuring security appliances to provide the company with a secure operating environment
  • Working with suppliers to provide timely procurement of required hardware and software and renewal of contracts
  • Working with other members of the business to reduce infrastructure or system inefficiencies
  • Committed to keeping documentation and procedures up to date as changes are made, or when systems are reconfigured for ease of reference by other team members
  • The role also requires rotated weekend cover for issues that may arise on any critical infrastructure or publicfacing systems
  • Although the role is primarily focused on 3rd line support, on occasion, you will also need to provide 2nd line support to business teams and internal end users

Requirements

  • 3 or more years experience troubleshooting 2nd line support issues and ideally 1 year working on 3rd line issues relating to:
    • Administration and maintenance of virtualised environments ideally VMWare vSphere and Horizon/View
    • Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP and DNS administration
  • Windows Server (ideally 2012/2016) maintenance, upgrading and troubleshooting
  • Server hardware implementation, upgrading and maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience of firewall technologies
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and tools
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills within an energetic and vibrant company atmosphere
  • Able to convey technical information to end users
  • Ability to prioritise in a high volume, servicebased organization
  • Takes ownership of problems and sees through to completion
  • Able to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times and remain customerfocused even when under pressure
