INTERNAL VACANCY: Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Manager

The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced person to join our friendly team for a period of 12 months to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a person-centered service which provides drop - In support for people affected by cancer.
As a Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre Manager you will have direct contact with people affected by cancer not only within the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre’s, but on wards and in departments within the Hospital. You will be proactive in developing good working relationships with all healthcare professionals in the cancer pathway, work flexibly, be visible and accessible for anyone affected by cancer. You will provide both emotional support and information about all aspects of living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis. Duties include line management of staff, recruiting, training and supervising volunteers and delegating tasks as appropriate, provide emotional support to anyone affected by cancer, ensure information is up to date and easily accessible and strive to improve all areas of service provision.
Applicants should have experience of working in a health or social care setting, and be able to supply evidence that they can support people with cancer, their relatives and friends through distressing emotional situations. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and customer care skills. Experience of working in a supervisory role and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications would be advantageous.
