A specialist school in Oldham are currently looking to recruit a teaching assistant to start in September 2019. This position is ongoing and will involve working 5 days per week 8.30am - 4.00pm.
The Setting caters for pupils aged 11-16, aiming wherever possible for successful reintegration to a new mainstream school or accreditation leading to pathways into further education, work based learning, apprenticeship or the world of work at the end of Year 11.
The pupils who attend this setting will often display signs of extreme challenging behaviour so if you have worked in a challenging setting for example: a residential home, pupil referral unit or alternative secure unit. Individuals from residential backgrounds tend to excel in these roles as they have developed an understanding of the effectiveness of a nonsense approach.
Due to the specific needs of the pupils the ideal Teaching Assistant will have:
- High levels of physical and emotional resilience
- An understanding of the importance of effective de-escalation tactics
- Team- Teach training (can be provided)
- An in-depth understanding of crisis prevention tactics
