What you`ll get up to as a Senior Automation Test Engineer

As a senior tester you will be expected to work in the development of complex and robust test automation frameworks.

The ideal candidate will be experienced working in a fast paced Agile/TDD/BDD environment and be experienced in building test automation solutions.

You will be responsible for reviewing application processes from end-to-end, to identify and implement test plans and scripts, to ensure appropriate coverage.

As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to mentor and advise other junior team members in testing practices. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business analysis and development teams, to ensure that the functionality of applications and changes are understood, and that there is adequate test coverage (quality checking) of applications, processes and services, prior to their live/production release.  Creating reusable Regression pack to run before any live release. This will also include maintaining and updating the regression pack when required.

What we look for in you

  • Selenium (WebDriver)/Cucumber JVM or equivalent
  • Experience of using SCM, ideally GIT
  • Understanding of web technologies (XML, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Java etc.)
  • Experience testing software in a true agile delivery environment
  • Writing, executing and automating test scripts.
  • Experience of the full software development lifecycle. Used to working on both medium and large-scale projects
  • Proficient understanding of testing and QA processes
  • Accomplished at running both manual and automated testing
  • Strong technical and analysis skills to implement test plans and scripts, including capturing and amending automated scripts, use of files for data driven testing, and operation of testing tools, to provide automated test coverage
  • Experienced in testing techniques/practices such as Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), Test Driven Development (TDD), etc.
  • Able to understand SQL commands, to successfully interpret the results of testing on the database information
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organised, enthusiastic and self-motivated
