In this role, you could be supporting students with Special Educational Needs including Autism, Aspergers and moderate and severe learning difficulties. You could be helping them achieve their potential by providing learning support in and out of the classroom.

We are currently recruiting for Learning Support Assistants to work with students at Bedford College on a one to one basis both in the classroom and throughout the college. Hours and days are flexible according to the students needs, approximately 28hrs per week.

These positions would suit candidates looking for termtime work and who have a passion for making a difference in young peoples lives.

Responsibilities:

*to provide learner support to students who may have a range of needs including academic, social, emotional and physical

*to work alongside the Support Worker Coordinator providing information for review and evaluation purposes as required

*to develop the independent living skills of the learner

*to keep students on task and engaged

*ensuring the personal safety and well being of the student at all times

*Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, carers, and students

Requirements:

*caring, understanding nature with a real desire to support students with additional support needs

* to understand the concept of support in education being different from care

*ability to work as a team

*to be able to support students who may experience challenging behaviour or emotional difficulties

*experience of working with children or adults with learning disabilities

*experience in personal care (desirable, not essential)

Qualifications Required:

*educated to Level 2 in Maths and English
