My client has a reputation for delivering bespoke engineering design solutions to a wide variety of national and global clients. The company has a wealth of experience in all aspects of sheet metal enclosure manufacturing. The company designs and manufacturers electrical enclosures to the specific needs and requirements of their customers. The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will convert customer's designs and concepts into 3D engineering drawings and assemblies. The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will assist with the design and manufacturer of the sheet metal containers, using Solid works. The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will ensure the products conform to the customers exact specifications.

Responsibilities of the Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Design new products and liaise with sales team to create customer specific projects
  • Alter existing products to suit client needs and ensure all features are client specific
  • Provide product design from concept through to production
  • Provide detailed drawing to produce projects
  • Work and liaise with other engineers within the business
  • Liaise directly with customers and suppliers when required.
  • Requisition job specific materials for purchasing department.
  • Liaise with Management Team to determine customer specific requirements (from both drawings and technical information).
  • Liaise with other departments on manufacturing processes, techniques and issues.
  • Liaise with Production Manager to provide feedback for production scheduling.

Requirements of the Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Relevant Engineering Degree of equivalent

  • Ideally will understand the sheet metal industry

  • Ability to work with CAD software including Solidworks and Radan.

  • Ability to create complex assemblies and parts for the projects

  • Identify and promote one best way within the engineering department.

  • Use of standard directories for parts, assemblies and ancillary parts.

  • Use of standard drawing templates.

  • Ensure ease of manufacture is always a priority when designing.

  • Investigate new ideas for engineering techniques.

  • Record and document internal nonconformities and customer complaints.

  • Provide technical support for the manufacturing process.
