Teaching Personnel are currently looking for a Behaviour Mentor to work with pupils who present with challenging behaviour on a 1:1 and 2:1 support basis. Our schools cater for students with mixed SEN including complex needs, Autism and Learning Difficulties. There is no greater role than supporting students who would otherwise struggle without your help. This role is incredibly rewarding and no two days are ever the same!Needs that the students have vary. They may require emotional support, assistance reading and/or writing. Some students may need assistance with managing their anger and stress levels. You will get to know your students and the things that cause them unnecessary stress, your role is to help steer them away from getting to the point where they are feeling overwhelmed. Support is centred around each student as an individual.We are looking for a versatile and resilient individual who can support pupils calmly and confidently. You will be required to manage challenging behaviour and work with other members of staff to try and keep young persons calm and engaged.Students may have significant communication difficulties. They may be non-verbal and communicate through a form of signing or suggestion. The ideal candidate will be:Versatile and resilient to work with challenging behaviourExperience working with students who have significant communication difficulties - any experience of Makaton, MAPA or PECS is desiredTeam Teach qualifications or other behaviour management qualificationsEscalation and diffusion methodsExperience working in challenging SEN environments with a range of abilities and SEN needsConfident to work as part of a thriving multi-disciplinary teamExperience within Pupil Referral UnitsAble to inspire and engage studentsVocational and Professional qualifications are desirable but not essential.
