We currently have opportunities available for Lateral Flow Test Operatives within the Sir John Brunner Foundation to join us at Sir John Deane’s College, Northwich and/or County High School, Leftwich. The positions are temporary. Full time, part-time or flexible hours are available and you will receive a competitive rate of £ per hour

As a Lateral Flow Test Operatives, you will support mass self-administered lateral flow COVID-19 testing to ensure tests are conducted correctly, samples are gathered for analysis efficiently and accurate analysis is undertaken.

Your responsibilities as our Lateral Flow Test Operatives will include:

- Understanding the testing procedure and workflows

- Following the standard operating procedure for the area of work

- Answering questions and be on hand to provide advice and assurance to those undertaking the test

- Ensuring correct use of PPE and ensure immediate work area is clean and tidy

- Working methodically and accurately referring to the supervisor where necessary

- Carrying out any other duties commensurate with the post

- The post holder will be expected to undergo such training as may be reasonably required

- The post holder will also be expected to assist in ensuring the safety and well-being of students

Post holders will be expected to carry out duties in one or more of the areas below:


- Meeting and greet individuals explain the process

- Supporting individual with registering the unique barcode to their smartphone or Academy device

- Directing individuals to the testing area and ensuring individuals adhere to COVID secure measures and numbers in the test area is managed appropriately

Administer the test

- Ensuring a sealed sterile swab is provided to the individual and the individual has sanitised their hands

- Providing verbal instruction and direction to carry out the swabbing process

- Putting individuals at ease and providing additional instruction and assurance for individuals who have difficulty swabbing (no physical contact is required)


- Attaching the individuals barcode to the test device

- Receiving and process the sample to enable analysis to begin

- Reviewing the result at the appropriate time

- Interpret test result and indicate the outcome

- Cleaning and sanitising of the area between each test processing

Result Recording

- Enter the indicated result onto the internal database and national Test and Trace system

Our ideal Lateral Flow Test Operatives will have:

- Education up to GCSE or equivalent (desirable)

- Ability to follow set procedures and carry out instructions

- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team

- Ability to work methodically, accurately with excellent attention to detail

- Able to accurately interpret a visual result indicator

- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally

- Ability to use basic computer databases to input information
